The Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the City of Nacogdoches and the Nacogdoches Economic Development Corporation (NEDCO) to launch the "Shop Nac First" campaign.
The campaign is designed to make Nacogdoches residents aware of the benefit of shopping locally.
By shopping in Nacogdoches, people are investing their money into the city, according to Sarah O'Brien, Nacogdoches Main Street manager. "Every time you shop in Nacogdoches, a portion of every dollar goes to keep our city running," she said.
"By shopping locally, Nacogdoches residents can help something as simple as the fire department which that resident may one day need help from," O'Brien said.
Shop Nac First will give insight on all retail stores that are in Nacogdoches.
"There are a thousand and one reasons to shop Nacogdoches first," Bruce R. Partain, Chamber CEO, said.
"The purpose of Shop Nac is to help residents save time on driving to Houston or Dallas when they can get the exact same shopping experience here for a lot less money," Partain said.
Partain gave six reasons for shopping in Nacogdoches:
• More money is kept in the community;
• New jobs are provided;
• Unique shops are available;
• Competition and diversity leads to more choices;
• Benefits outweigh costs; and
• Reduced environmental impact.
