The Jacks football team will be in Alabama taking on the Jacksonville State Gamecocks on Saturday Oct. 9. SFA is coming off last weekend’s loss against Sam Houston at the Battle of the Pineywoods.
Jacksonville State is coming home after their 31-6 loss against Kennesaw State last Saturday, Oct. 2nd. The Jacksonville State offense has been stifled through a series of inconsistencies as they struggled to score effectively and establish a solidified passing game in their starting quarterback Zerrick Cooper, so the SFA defense can expect a balanced run and pass game coming from Jacksonville State.
The Jacks are on the road again, and after last week’s loss to Sam Houston, they are on a tear for redemption from the loss to their rivals. The Jacks defense was extremely effective last week in the game against SHSU and fell short in the final quarter due to a controversial facemask penalty called on defensive end BJ Thompson which put the Kats in a first down on the SFA 4 yard line after what would have been a failed 4th down conversion.
The Jacks currently sit in last place with a 0-1 record in their conference play but are in a three-way tie for second place in the WAC. For Lumberjack fans, we can expect to see more coming from SFA’s defense, quarter back Trae Self and wide receiver Xavier Gipson this Saturday, Oct. 9 at 4:00 p.m. ET.
