This year, there will not be a Ring Dip ceremony in order to ensure the safety of the SFA students and faculty during the outbreak of COVID-19. Because of this, students who are ordering their rings will have their rings be shipped to their houses instead of picking them up in person. Rings also cannot be sent to P.O. boxes.

SFA Ring Week has been extended to Oct. 5 through the 9, to ensure that all students eligible for their class ring have time to order.

This year due to COVID-19, the SFA Alumni Association is offering students to get their class rings either in person like usual, or they have the option to join a Zoom meeting and do their ring selection all online.

Students who would prefer and are able to come in for ring sizing and selection are guaranteed to be socially distanced from one another. Prior to arriving, students must schedule an appointment through, which should appear in your mySFA email.

For students who are not in Nacogdoches, there is an option on the Balfour website along with customizing your ring to get your accurate size. According to Balfour, the online sizing method that you would have to print off is 97% accurate. By following the instructions, students will be able to print off their paper and figure out their correct size.

Director of Alumni Relations Derek Synder will be hosting the Zoom call. He will be giving a students a rundown on how to order and customize their SFA rings, just as he would in person. The Alumni Association building has markings on the ground as students walk inside to help others distance themselves and to keep an easy one-way flow. Each station is regularly sanitized after each person is helped for safety and liability reasons.

“We are also going to offer a Big Dip Party Pack Pick Up on [Dec.] 4, which would be our day for Big Dip,” Snyder said. “You're going to get your own individual bag with your commemorative towel and your own individual dip that we have made from water from the fountain, so there’s some tradition in there.”.

Since the commencement is cancelled, students that are receiving their SFA rings will have the opportunity to dip their own hands in the traditional purple water and celebrate their achievement locally in Nacogdoches on the weekend of Dec. 4 where they can redeem their “Dippin’ Discounts.”

Kendra Scott is also offering a promotion, since they are sponsored with the Alumni Association, of a free necklace with your ring purchase during the checkout process.

The Alumni Association has posted promotion flyers to order rings around campus by using a QR code that directly takes you to the website. For the week of Oct. 5 through 9, a Zoom meeting will be offered only by request.
