SFA (9-12, 4-6) returns home following a three-game road trip in which they went 1-2 to face a Central Arkansas (13-8, 6-4) team that lost two consecutive home games. The Ladyjacks have a 5-3 record at William R. Johnson Coliseum this season and have won two straight games in Nacogdoches.
Last Saturday the Ladyjacks were unable to overcome a season-high 33 turnovers and the Lamar Lady Cardinals took advantage by forcing overtime and pulling out a 61-55 victory Saturday afternoon at the Montagne Center. SFA was led in scoring by sophomore center Porsha Roberts, who scored 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 at the free throw line.
Thursday’s game will be video streamed on www.sfajacks.com, as well as live stats. The game will also be broadcast on Q107.7 FM with James Dixon on the call, as well as q1077.com. As always, Twitter updates will be provided throughout at @SFA_WBB.
Thursday’s game will be the Pink Out Game put on by Zeta Tau Alpha in support of breast cancer awareness and the Ncogdoches Chamber of Commerce event “Cram the Coliseum.”
SFA is 7-2 all-time against UCA. The Bears defeated SFA earlier this season, 57-54 on Jan. 10 in Conway.
The Ladyjacks have now won the bench scoring comparison in 18 of 21 games after outscoring Lamar, 32-8. SFA is averaging 22.7 points per game off their bench, 11 points better than their opponents (11.7).
Sophomore center Porsha Roberts has scored in double-figures in six consecutive games and is averaging 14.3 point per game in Southland Conference play. The reigning SLC Freshman of the Year has scored 10 or more points in every conference game except two.
The Ladyjacks are currently the seventh seed in the Southland Conference. This season the top eight teams in the conference make the league tournament in Katy, Texas.
