Students and faculty at SFA will have the week of Thanksgiving off, while staff will be working that Monday and Tuesday. Student workers will have the option to work or take off those days.

“Faculty and students are all off the week of Nov22-26,” Calendar Committee member and Executive Assistant to the Provost, Sharon Brewer, said. “Staff will be working that Monday and Tuesday, the [Nov.] 22 and 23, but they are welcome to use vacation time.”

Up until two years ago, there were only three days for Thanksgiving break.

“Some offices [will be] forwarding calls to remote offices,” Brewer said“Administrative offices such as the admission office, financial aid office and business office will be open [Monday and Tuesday] though. It is also a busy time for Jack Walker tours.”

Employees will be required to take one day of paid leave on Nov. 24, two days of paid leave on Dec30 through 31 and two days of paid leave on March 10 to 11. A regular employee is employed to work at least 20 hours per week for a period of at least four and one-half months excluding students employed in positions which require student status as a condition of employment.

This could also be a good time for student workers to speak with their supervisors and plan ahead for Christmas break,” Human Resources Representative and Staff Council Representative Becky Garrett said.
