Student Government Association will be accepting donations for the Nacogdoches Animal Shelter until Thursday, March 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Baker Pattillo Student Center.
“I wrote a legislation to do the tabling event and to donate $300 of our own money to the animal shelter,” said SGA Chair of Civil Affairs Cayenne Alexander.
In addition to the money SGA donated, members said they hope to gather toys, fleece blankets, Lysol wipes, collars, leashes, halters, puppy training pads, litter boxes, litter, treats, nail trimmers, grooming brushes, Dawn dish soap, pet beds and dog clothes.
They are also offering service hours for donations, varying from 30 minutes to an hour for each donation.
Angelica Rocha, liberal arts senator in SGA, said, “The Nacogdoches Animal Shelter is currently in need of many supplies, and as an organization we decided to table to help gather supplies and later donate to help them. We want the animals to feel love before they have a new home.”
According to SGA Business Senator Wester Couch, SGA and other students care about the animals in the Nacogdoches area, and that is what fueled the decision to gather supplies to donate to the local animal shelter.
