SFA has been chosen to participate in Facebook’s beta test of their new feature: Facebook Campus. SFA is also the only school in Texas to be chosen for this test.

“Facebook Campus will be a place for students to connect with each other in a university-specific space,” Kerry Whitsett, the University’s marketing communication specialist said.

To join, students will have to use their SFA email. They will be able to connect with classmates, create groups within the feature and view campus orientated news and campus directory.

“You can have discussions about classes or [with] professors, and you know the answers are coming from the actual SFA students.” Whitsett said.

Facebook Campus will be a specific place for college students to connect with members of their community.

SFA was chosen, along with 30 other schools in the United States, to participate in the test. Facebook chose these universities based on their representation of various demographics, such as size and region.

“Earlier this semester, SFA was listed among the top 30 schools in the nation for its social media engagement,” Whitsett said. “I think Facebook may have chosen SFA because of this accolade.         We’re getting a sneak peek into an in-app feature that is limited to few college students in the world.”

It is unclear how long the test will last for and how the test is going so far.

To access Facebook campus, students can find it on the Facebook app or, to learn more information about Facebook Campus, click here.
