A guide to making a spooky basket your ‘boo’ will enjoy

Bags of candy are everywhere. Pumpkin Spice Lattes are being sold by the millions. Bath & Body Works fall candles are burning. This can mean only one thing: spooky season is upon us.

If you’ve been on Twitter at all in the past month, you’ve seen people giving their significant others spooky baskets. For anyone who doesn’t reside in Twitter, allow me to explain. Spooky baskets are essentially Easter baskets but Halloween themed. So, instead of bunnies and eggs, you fill them with pumpkins and ghosts but keep the candy.

At this point, you’re either going, “Okay?” or reacting like I did, which was “Oh my gosh, that’s so cute! I want one! Ooh, I should make one!” If you fall in the latter and want to delve into the world of spooky baskets, enjoy some inspiration. Here is your guide to making the ultimate spooky basket.

Candy

This one is the most obvious but the easiest. Almost everyone has a favorite candy, so whatever that is for the person you’re making a basket for should go in. For me, that’s pink Starbursts, Hershey’s Cookies & Cream and Kit Kats. Bonus points if the candy wrapping is Halloween themed.

Treats

Somewhat along the same wavelength as candy, but if you’re with someone who doesn’t particularly love candy, then go forth and put in other spooky treats. Personally, I love Goldfish, Cheetos Bag of Bones and, quite honestly, anything pumpkin spice flavored. This is the time of year where yummy snacks are everywhere. Use that to your advantage.

Cozy Stuff

FUZZY SOCKS. You can never go wrong with fuzzy socks. Along with that, other great ideas that I (and I’m sure most people) would love are soft blankets, cute (but spooky!) stuffed animals, slippers and, if you really want to win, pajamas. I can never have enough comfortable cute pajamas. If you can get Halloween pajamas, do so. Another cozy staple is candles. If it says pumpkin, cider, apple or leaves, then you’re good to go.

Pamper Stuff

Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin is my favorite scent of all time that Bath & Body Works sells. I want it in the lotion, perfume, body scrub, anything and everything that it comes in. This is also a great time to get bath bombs, face masks or chapstick. Just get basically anything that would be helpful in the cold months. Because, it’s going to get cold eventually... right?

Halloween Movies

I adore Charlie Brown. If “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” were to appear in my spooky basket, I would be thrilled. Other amazing movies I wouldn’t be mad to see would be "A Nightmare Before Christmas," "Halloweentown" or "Twitches." I love those movies. I would love to watch them while eating Bags of Bones, wearing fuzzy socks and cuddling under a blanket with my boo.

Drinks

I drink Diet Coke like it’s going out of business. However, if one wanted to keep it more seasonal, I love apple cider so much and could drink it every day of the fall. Another good option would be the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte frappes.

If you’re planning on making a spooky basket, just think about what would make the person happy. There’s nothing better than seeing a (spooky) smile from the person you love.
