The Ladyjacks volleyball team gained another win this season against Southeastern Louisiana University on Saturday to extend their winning streak to 13 games, winning 34 sets in a row. They remain the only team undefeated in the Southland Conference, ranking at No.1, with an 8-0 conference record, 20-1 overall record and a .952 winning percentage.

It was a difficult first set for the Ladyjacks as the SLU Lions gained momentum, close to breaking SFA’s nation leading set streak. SLU was up 24-19 before SFA returned with a 6-1 run to tie the game 24-24. A kill by the Lions’ sophomore Karlee Wilkerson put them one point away from winning the set. SFA regained the lead with a 3-0 run to win the set 27-25 after two kills by senior outside hitter Corin Evans.

The Ladyjacks did not allow SLU to reach 20 points in the next two sets. In the second set, the Lions had a 4-0 to tie the set 12-12, keeping the game close. The Ladyjacks responded with a 6-1 run to make the score 18-13. The Lions made another point from a kill by junior middle blocker Sam Gomez. The Ladyjacks had a 5-1 run to extend their lead to eight points in the set. SFA won the set 25-17.

A 6-1 run gave the Ladyjacks an early 7-2 lead in the third set. Another 5-1 run and 5-0 run gave the Ladyjacks a 25-15 win for the set. SFA had a .250 attacking percentage and 37 kills while SLU had a .123 attacking percentage and 42 kills. SFA had 14 blocks on defense compared to SLU’s four blocks.

Wilkerson and junior outside hitter Caroline Golden both had 11 kills for the Lions. Freshman setter Baylee Laskoskie also contributed to their offense with 36 assists. On defense, freshman libero Lizzy Low had 21 digs.

SFA’s offense was led once again by Evans with 15 kills. Junior setter Margaret Dean acquired a double-double with 19 assists and 16 digs. SFA had a total of 60 digs for the game.
