The (5-3) Lumberjacks will look to finish the 2020 season undefeated at Homer Bryce Stadium against the (1-1) Pittsburg State Gorillas at 4 p.m. Saturday

As a result of their 24-6 road victory against the (2-5) Eastern Kentucky Colonels last Saturday, SFA is currently on their first five-game winning streak since 2011. Furthermore, this was their second straight victory over an FCS opponent.

The Jacks’ defense limited the Colonels offense to 214 yards. In addition, the Colonels' six points were tied for the fewest points SFA has allowed all season.

For the Gorillas, who compete in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, this will be their third of four matchups this season, as they’ll come into this matchup looking to build off of their first victory of the season which was a 20-7 road win against the (0-2) Missouri Western Griffons.

In addition, this was the first time since September 2018 in which they won while holding an opponent to single-digits on the road. Moving forward, they are led by first-year Head Coach Brian Wright, who’ll attempt to lead Pittsburg State above the .500 mark for the first time this season.

Pittsburg State is the all-time winningest football program in NCAA Division II history. On top of that, they are currently the first and only NCAA Division II football program to have eclipsed the 700-win mark .

This will be the fifth time in school history where the Gorillas will square off against an NCAA FCS opponent since they became a Division II program in 1989. During the first four games, they have accumulated a 3-1 record. Also, this will only be the second time they have faced an opponent from the Southland Conference, with the first time being in the midst of a 28-20 home victory, against Abilene Christian University.

A Lumberjacks victory over Pitt State would not only ensure that the Lumberjacks finish the season undefeated at home for the first time since 2012, but that they’ll finish the season above the .500 mark for the first time in six seasons and also clinch their first six-game winning streak since 2010.

This will be the first all-time matchup between the Gorillas and Lumberjacks.

KTBQ-FM Radio will be providing play-by-play analysis, while ESPN3 will be providing streaming services for the game.
