SFA football (4-3) looks to continue their winning ways at 2 p.m. Saturday for a road matchup with the Eastern Kentucky University Colonels from Roy Kidd Stadium in Richmond, Kentucky.

The Lumberjacks are looking to build off of last Saturday’s 64-7 win over the Western Colorado University Mountaineers on Halloween. SFA recorded 584 yards of total offense and the defense forced five turnovers, four of them occurring in the first quarter.  In addition, the victory extended SFA’s win streak to four games, their first since the 2011 season, and went undefeated in the month of October.

This will be the first true road game for the ‘Jacks since their game with SMU in September and the first time in history that SFA and EKU face each other.

The Colonels, who compete in the Ohio Valley Conference, hold a 2-4 overall record and come into this game after taking last week off. In their previous game, Eastern notched a 31-28 win over defending Southland Conference champions and No. 11 Central Arkansas in the last six seconds of the game. Their win over the Bears snapped a two-game losing skid and the Colonels finished with 460 yards of total offense and forced three turnovers.

In addition, it was their first win over a ranked team since 2013 and first win over a ranked non-conference opponent since 2003.

EKU is led by first-year head coach Walt Wells. He is a 25-year coaching veteran and spent the previous two seasons as a quality control assistant for the Kentucky Wildcats. He has made coaching stops at other FBS programs such as Tennessee, Western Kentucky, South Florida and New Mexico State.

ESPN3 will provide a television broadcast, and Q 107.7 will provide radio coverage.
