Ladyjacks continue home winning streak after game with ACU

SFA Ladyjacks Volleyball team defeated Abilene Christian with a 3-0 win on Sept. 30. The Ladyjacks now sit with an overall record of 11-3. The girls continued their home game winning streak now setting their record to 7-0. 

Highlights from the game included freshman outside hitter Valerie Rosado putting up 12 kills as well as four aces, and sophomore middle hitter Ielan Bradley put up nine kills. Freshman middle blocker Kayla Grant led the block count with five blocks while junior right side hitter Payton Cerny had four blocks and Bradley had one.  

Sophomore setter Maddy Borque totaled a team high of 14 assists and junior outside hitter Ariana Pagan got a team high of 13 digs. 

In the Ladyjacks’ previous game on Sept. 25 the girls went 3-1 against UTRGV. This was the LadyJacks first ever win as a Western Athletic Conference Program.  

Some highlights from this game included senior middle blocker Taya Mitchell with a career high of 11 blocks while also getting five kills. 

Freshman outside hitter Valerie Rosado led the kills count with 11 kills and junior outside hitter Payton Cerny had eight kills. Rosado also got two blocks and served up two aces. Cerny had one block.  

Graduate student setter Kodi Garcia had 17 assists and sophomore setter Maddy Borque had 14 assists.  

The Ladyjacks next game will be home on Oct. 2 at 12 p.m. against Tarleton. The last game against Tarleton was a 3-1 win for the Ladyjacks on Jan. 22.  

The Tarleton Volleyball team currently has a 7-8 record coming off of a 1-3 loss against Sam Houston on Sept. 30.  

The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
