The SFA Ladyjack Tennis team has assumed the role of one of the hottest teams in the Southland Conference, picking up its fifth-straight victory of the season Tuesday afternoon over Arkansas-Little Rock, 4-3. The Ladyjacks move a game over .500 with for the first time this season.
In what has become the norm for the SFA tennis team, their victories do not come easy. Two of the matches went to a third set, while two sets were decided on a tie break, and sophomores Malena Gordo and Julia Lorca were pushed to a ninth point before picking up a win at No. 1 doubles to secure the doubles point.
Freshman Valeria Terentyeva gave SFA a 2-0 lead with her quick 6-4, 6-4, decision at No. 5 singles over UALR’s Dane Vorster. The Ladyjacks then turned to Lorca and junior Laura Servise for the other two victories to clinch the match.
The Ladyjacks will take 10 days off before returning to action. SFA will step back on the court Friday, Mar. 29, when they face Northwestern State in a conference match up. The match against the Lady Demons is slated to begin at 11 a.m. from the Schlief Tennis Complex.
